Southern Hills Hospital names chief executive officer

Southern Hills Hospital has named Adam Rudd — a hospital executive from South Carolina — as its chief executive officer, effective Sept. 7.

Rudd comes to Las Vegas from the Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he served as chief operating officer. As CEO of Southern Hills Hospital, he will oversee all operations for the 134-bed facility in southwest Las Vegas.

“I am honored to become the CEO of Southern Hills Hospital,” Rudd said in a statement. “It is exciting to have the opportunity to work with our talented employees, volunteers and physicians, and lead the growth at this facility in the years to come. I look forward to maximizing Southern Hills’ potential in order to best serve our community.”

Rudd spent five years as COO at Grand Strand Medical Center and was responsible for managing and growing the multi-campus facility with 1,200 staff members and more than 200 physicians.

He also implemented and managed the hospital’s trauma service, which become the largest trauma program in South Carolina, and oversaw a $54 million construction project that involved a new emergency room and patient tower.

Rudd has an executive master’s of business administration from the University of Colorado, focusing on health care, and degrees in industrial engineering and engineering science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and David Lipscomb University, respectively.

He previously served as vice president of operations at Hospital Corporation of America’s West Florida Division and, before that, worked at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver.

Southern Hills’ previous CEO, Kimball Anderson, left earlier this summer to accept a CEO position at HCA’s Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem, Utah.
