letters to the editor:

Nations will aim to keep up with Iran on the nuclear front

The Iranian nuclear deal is now before Congress. Ultimately, this deal will be implemented. It is designed by President Barack Obama to transform the Middle East into the unfettered and emboldened power base of Iran — a world in which China and Russia are free to trade weapons, oil and other articles of commerce openly with the leading terrorist nation in the world without bounds. It will give Iran a huge cash infusion that will unleash Iranian ambitions in the region.

But why would Obama push to establish Iran as a newly unfettered nation with a leap in freedom and resources to accomplish Iran’s nefarious ambitions? Obama clearly is more threatened by the advent of military operations by the U.S., Israel and NATO than by the new threat posed by Iran, even given the prospect of Iran acquiring nuclear weapons and being set up with a clear hegemony in the region. In other words, Obama’s deal with the devil will promote Iran in the region and unleash it from the dark cloud of sanctions, trade restrictions and the potential bombing of its nuclear facilities that have been hanging over its head. This new deal is a clear and celebratory victory for Iran, and a deep blow to Israel and the Sunni nations in the region.

The world must be prepared for a strengthening of Iranian proxies in the region. This rise in Iranian power will come at the expense of America’s traditional allies — Israel, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Yemen — and clearly signals a major transformation of U.S. policy in the region.
