A woman hospitalized for smoke inhalation after a house fire Friday afternoon is in critical condition, according to the North Las Vegas Fire Department.

Firefighters were called about 2:45 p.m. to the 2400 block of Ellis Street, near East Carey Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard North, where a fire was reported at a single-story house, Capt. Cedric Williams said.

Arriving crews found a woman in the front room and removed her from the home. She was taken to University Medical Center.

The fire was determined to be caused unintentionally by someone smoking, officials said.

Damage to the house is estimated at $129,000.
