Freedom House has received a $200,000 donation from the Engelstad Family Foundation to expand services, officials announced Friday.

The nonprofit, founded in 2010 by Iverson and Silvia Buckley, operates two transitional housing complexes in Las Vegas that provide a structured transition for homeless people with substance abuse issues. Two years ago, the Engelstad Family Foundation gave Freedom House $100,000.

The new donation will help with a variety of initiatives, including financial support for residents in the transitional programs and funding for the food program, officials said.

"The donation we received from the Engelstad Family Foundation is fundamental to our future," Jeff Iverson, president and CEO of Freedom House Sober Living, said in a statement. "As our capacity to serve has grown and word has spread about our successes, so have the number of people in our community who need us."

Freedom House has helped dozens of people battling drug and alcohol addictions start new lives, Iverson said. Its campus sits just east of the resort corridor in Las Vegas.
