CARSON CITY — One of Gov. Brian Sandoval's top advisers is leaving to work with the company behind the Resorts World casino under construction on the Las Vegas Strip.

The Republican governor announced Monday that Chief Counsel Michon Martin would be leaving his administration later this month.

Martin was instrumental in helping Sandoval usher his budget priorities and tax package through the Legislature this spring. Sandoval said she'd been a loyal confidant for more than two years and said she'd been tenacious in pursuing a stronger, more prosperous Nevada.

Martin's new job will be with Resorts World Las Vegas, a subsidiary of the Malaysian conglomerate Genting Group. The company is developing a major Chinese-themed resort at the site of a casino project that stalled during the recession.
