Funding for Nevada veterans home stymied in Congress

CARSON CITY — Gov. Brian Sandoval said today construction of a $28 million veterans home in Reno may be delayed because of inaction by the federal government.

He said the state has done its share, and the design of the home is completed. The Legislature has allocated $14 million in bond money for the project.

It is now up to Congress to approve federal funding.

“This may delay the start of construction, and it’s very disturbing to me,” Sandoval said.

The governor signed letters Monday to Nevada’s congressional delegation asking for help to speed up action.
