Area of crash

A woman struck by a pickup truck in the east valley this afternoon has died, according to Metro Police.

Officers were called just after 3 p.m. to the area near Boulder Highway and Sandhill Road, police said.

The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk while crossing Boulder, and she was struck by a 2005 Chevy Silverado headed north, police said.

She was taken to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, police said.

The 38-year-old Sacramento man driving the truck remained on scene, police said.

Northbound Boulder Highway was closed from U.S. 95 to the Johnnie Walker RV location at 3700 Boulder Highway, police said.

Detectives from Metro's fatal unit, which investigates serious-injury and fatal accidents, responded to the scene, police said.

This is the 64th traffic-related death reported in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
