Man fatally stabbed in southwest valley strip mall parking lot is identified

A man who was fatally stabbed in a Spring Valley strip mall parking lot Thursday afternoon has been identified as 57-year-old Avetis Shilgevorkyan, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Shilgevorkyan, a Las Vegas resident, died of a stab wound to the chest in a homicide, the Coroner's Office said.

Officers were called about 5:15 p.m. to the Shish Kabob House, at 6620 W. Flamingo Road, near Torrey Pines Drive, according to Metro Police.

Investigators believe Shilgevorkyan got into a fight with someone he knew, police said.

The fight was broken up, and the suspect left before returning and stabbing Shilgevorkyan during a second fight, police said.

Police described the suspect as a white man between 30 and 40 years old with a medium build. The man was last seen wearing a blue polo-style shirt and blue jeans, police said.

This is the 77th homicide this year investigated by Metro.
