San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin, left, runs against Arizona Cardinals free safety Tyrann Mathieu during the first half of an NFL football game in Santa Clara, Calif., on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014.

We've reset the Play of the Day with fresh bankrolls and turned it into a yearly competition. Our three sports writers have restarted with $10,000 bankrolls to continue using on odds from the South Point.

San Francisco 49ers minus-4 vs. Dallas Cowboys: $330 to win $300

I hate that I’m laying more a field goal in the NFL preseason, something I’ve railed against in the past. And it’s all Taylor Swift’s fault.

The pop superstar left a lot of blank space on the Levi’s Stadium field after a recent show, forcing the 49ers to put in new turf. And now the Cowboys got bad blood.

Dallas can’t shake off the anxiety that its players might have uneven footing on the new field and be at a higher injury risk. The Cowboys will keep their starters safe and sound by playing them sparingly.

It must be 49ers’ fans wildest dream, as the home team has given no indication that they’ll limit their own players’ time. In fact, quarterback Colin Kaepernick has hinted that he’s fearless and would like to get the first unit into a better rhythm tonight.

Sparks may fly for the 49ers, which need it after a poor showing in the first preseason game against the Texans. The Cowboys will forever and always be the better team this season, but this isn’t a situation to back them.

I know it’s trouble trusting San Francisco to cover this number, but there are no other options. Did I mention I couldn’t stand Taylor Swift?
