Apparent homicide of Las Vegas man leads to arrest of victim’s relative

A man was killed in an apparent homicide Sunday afternoon outside of his east valley home, and officers have arrested a 32-year-old relative in connection with the crime, according to Metro Police.

Police were called about 5:40 p.m. to investigate a reported domestic disturbance at the house in the 300 block of Martha Street, near North Lamb Boulevard and Stewart Avenue, police said.

The deceased man, whose identity has not yet been released by the Clark County Coroner's Office, was found unresponsive, and police and family tried to help him until he was taken to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Juan Medrano, 32, was arrested Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, in connection with an apparent homicide at an east Las Vegas Valley residence.

The manner of his death was not released by police.

Detectives believe the man got into an argument with family member Juan Medrano, who also lived at the house, police said.

Medrano asked another family member to come to the house, and when that relative arrived, Medrano and the victim’s vehicle were gone.

Officers stopped that vehicle about 3:40 a.m. near the 3700 block of Boulder Highway, about four miles from the home, police said.

Medrano was arrested and booked into the Clark County jail on a count of first-degree murder and one count of possession of a stolen vehicle, police said.

This is the 78th homicide this year investigated by Metro Police.
