Police chased two auto burglary suspects to an extended-stay motel and through the Fiesta Rancho this afternoon before hitting one suspect with a vehicle near a busy shopping center parking lot, according to Metro Police.

Police said officers were called to investigate an auto burglary in the 10700 block of Tottenham Avenue, near Sahara Avenue and Town Center Drive.

Officers and an air unit followed the suspect vehicle to a Budget Suites about 15 miles away near Lake Mead Boulevard and Rancho Drive, where the suspects — a man and a woman — entered a unit that was occupied, Officer Laura Meltzer said.

The occupants were able to get out safely, and SWAT was called to the scene, she said.

The suspects managed to get out of the motel and led police on a foot pursuit through the nearby Fiesta Rancho resort, she said.

The female suspect was taken into custody during that pursuit, and police believed they saw the male suspect with a handgun, Meltzer said.

The man then ran through the casino parking garage and toward the parking lot of a nearby Wal-Mart before being hit by a police vehicle near the Wal-Mart pharmacy drive-thru, she said.

He was taken to University Medical Center with injuries believed to be nonlife-threatening, she said.
