Banning abortion would only increase dangers

I couldn’t tell if George Will’s column “Planned Parenthood shows nation’s barbarity” (Las Vegas Sun, Aug. 6) was a movie review:

Planned Parenthood, murder, selling body parts for profit. Ghouls, vampires and zombies. Enraged mobs with pitchforks and torches. “The children; we must save the children!“

Or Planned Parenthood, the health clinic to women, men and teens for screenings, contraception and information regarding their sexual well-being and family planning.

The blind bleating of “Defund Planned Parenthood,” if successful, would certainly result in more unintended pregnancies. The choice is not between legal, safe abortion and no abortions. Banning abortion would result in self-induced or procured abortion, from real butchers and profiteers in human misery.

Only 3 percent of Planned Parenthood’s budget goes toward providing abortions, and using federal funds for that has been banned since 1976. So, Congress, think about the consequences of pandering to the low-hanging fruit of those contrived, manipulative videos. It’s called leadership.
