Former constable loses another state Supreme Court appeal

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Supreme Court on Wednesday denied the latest appeal of John Bonaventura to reclaim his office as Las Vegas Township constable.

The court upheld the right of the Clark County Commission to abolish the office. Its duties were turned over to the Clark County Sheriff’s Department.

Bonaventura, elected to the office in 2011, was been involved in a number of controversies before the office was abolished.

The court rejected his argument that the County Commission violated the state’s open meeting law when it voted in 2013 to abolish the office.

The decision upholds the ruling of District Court Judge Rob Bare

Bonaventura lost a prior appeal to the state Supreme Court.
