A 92-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Spring Valley, the second pedestrian fatality Thursday afternoon in the Las Vegas Valley.

Police responded about 5:45 p.m. to the area of Tropicana Avenue and Edmond Street, near Decatur Boulevard, where the crash was reported, Lt. Harry Demetres said.

The pedestrian, a Las Vegas woman, was crossing the street outside a crosswalk when she was hit by a Nissan Maxima heading westbound on Tropicana. The driver, a 56-year-old Las Vegas woman, was not injured and remained at the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said. The incident is under investigation.

Another pedestrian, meanwhile, died after being hit about 5:30 p.m. in the southeast valley, police said.

Police were called about 5:30 p.m. to the 6100 block of Boulder Highway, near Russell Road, Demetres said.

The 28-year-old Las Vegas woman was crossing the street when she was hit by a Chevrolet Blazer southbound on Boulder Highway, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not yet been released.

The driver of the Chevy, a 17-year-old Las Vegas girl, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
