Nevada slow in recovering jobs lost during recession

CARSON CITY — Among states in the West, Nevada has been one of the slowest recovering jobs lost during the recession.

The Economic Forum today received a 279-page document detailing tax revenues and the state of the economy. The forum is charged with predicting revenue upon which the state budget is based.

Nevada has regained 78 percent of jobs lost during the recession, state demographer Jeff Hardcastle said. In the West, only Arizona had a lower gain at 76.2 percent.

Nationally, 140.2 percent of jobs have been recovered.

Nevada was the hardest hit during the recession, with an unemployment rate of more than 13 percent.
