Two people escape fire at house in Henderson

Two people were displaced by a fire late Sunday that started in the garage of their Henderson house as they slept, according to the city’s fire department.

The fire was reported about 11:30 p.m. at the two-story house on Hidden Hollow Lane, near South Green Valley Parkway and Paseo Verde Parkway, the Henderson Fire Department said in a news release. Nobody was injured.

Smoke was coming from the three-car garage, and heavy fire extended to the living area of the house, officials said. The smell of smoke woke the residents, who escaped with a pet bird, officials said.

The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada was assisting two displaced adults, the release said. The cause of the fire and the amount of damage it caused have not been determined, the department said.
