Small fire at Rio is quickly extinguished

Firefighters quickly put out a towel fire on the 25th floor of the Rio this morning, and there were no injuries or evacuations, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

The fire was reported about 5 a.m. at the hotel-casino at 3700 West Flamingo Road.

Hotel security directed firefighters to the 25th floor, where they discovered a towel on fire outside a service elevator, Fire Department officials said.

The fire was doused with an extinguisher, and there were no other signs of smoke or flames in the elevator shaft or surrounding areas, according to officials.

The Fire Department determined the fire was accidental, officials said.
