Primm, Pahrump under freeze warning; cold start to the week in the valley

Valley residents are urged to protect their pets, plants and pipes as cold temperatures settle into the area today.

According to the National Weather Service, areas such as Primm, Indian Springs and Pahrump will be under a hard freeze warning starting at 10 p.m. and continuing into 9 a.m. Monday as temperatures hover around 20 degrees.

The Las Vegas Valley could experience low temperatures between 23-28 degrees tonight, but a hard freeze warning has not been issued for the area, according to meteorologist John Adair.

The chilly weather has been the result of a cold storm that came to the west from Canada, Adair said.

Sunday afternoon should be filled with sunny skies and a high near 46 degrees.

Monday should be mostly sunny with a high near 47 degrees and a low near 35.

Tuesday should be slightly warmer with mostly sunny skies and a high near 51 degrees, while the evening will bring lows around 33 degrees.
