Las Vegas man, 38, killed in 3-motorcycle crash on U.S. 95 near Searchlight

A 38-year-old Las Vegas man was killed Sunday afternoon in a three-motorcycle crash on northbound U.S. 95 near Searchlight, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

The highway patrol was called about 4 p.m. to the area just north of mile marker 31 on the highway, where two Harley motorcycles and a Yamaha crashed after traveling one behind the other in the left travel lane, Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel said.

The motorcycles were in a large group when one of the Harley drivers lost control, Stuenkel said.

The man, identified by the Clark County Coroner's Office as Shamon Tavar Hudson, was ejected from the overturned bike and struck by a 36-year-old woman driving the Yamaha, she said.

The woman had braked heavily but the motorcycle she was driving also overturned, and she was ejected, suffering serious but nonlife-threateing injuries, she said.

Hudson was pronounced dead on scene, and the woman was taken by helicopter to University Medical Center, Stuenkel said.

A third motorcyclist, who was also ejected, steered right to avoid the crash and lost control, she said.

That rider, a 44-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital, Stuenkel said.
