Police: Man stabbed to death at apartment complex

One man was killed and another arrested after a stabbing at a central valley apartment complex early this morning, according to Metro Police.

Officers were called about 1 a.m. to the Shelter Island Apartments, 3770 Swenson St., where a man was suffering from a stab wound, police said. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he later died, police said.

A security guard who saw a person fleeing the apartment complex followed him a short distance and held him until Metro officers arrived, police said.

The suspect, Gianni Raneri, 29, of Las Vegas, was taken to University Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries before he was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on a count of first-degree murder, police said.

According to police, the victim and another person were walking through the apartment complex when Raneri approached them. After a brief argument, they went their separate ways, police said.

But several hours later, Raneri confronted the victim and the other person again, resulting in the fatal stabbing, police said.

There was no indication if the parties knew each other before the stabbing, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
