Some Southwest Gas customers could be without service for days

Updated Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015 | 8:30 p.m.

It could take several days to restore natural gas to all of about 5,000 customers in Henderson who lost service Tuesday afternoon, Southwest Gas officials said.

Southwest Gas crews have restored service to more than 3,000 customers affected in the outage.

Southwest Gas cut service about 1 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Old Vegas Trail and Wagon Wheel Drive after crews discovered a damaged 4-inch pipe during a routine check, spokeswoman Sonya Headen said.

About 7 a.m. today, Southwest Gas workers started going door-to-door to turn the gas back on, Headen said. Workers have to enter each home or business to restore service, she said.

Company representatives are at the Clark County Heritage Museum, 1830 S. Boulder Highway, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily to provide information and updates to customers regarding service restoration.
