A motorist who hit a police motorcycle on the side of the road, injuring an officer, Tuesday night has been arrested on a count of driving under the influence of alcohol, Metro Police said.

Police identified the motorist, who was behind the wheel of a 2003 Chevrolet Corvette, as Peter Clark, 28, of Las Vegas.

The officer, whose name was not released, was treated for minor injuries at University Medical Center and released, police said.

The crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. on Rancho Drive, south of West Riverside Road, police said.

The officer stopped a Ford Mustang on a minor traffic violation and parked his marked police motorcycle behind the car before walking up to talk to the driver, Metro reported.

The Corvette, headed south on Rancho, hit the motorcycle, pushing it into the back of the stopped car and the officer, police said. The Corvette slid onto the sidewalk and hit a block wall, police said.

Clark, a passenger in the Corvette and the driver of the Mustang all suffered minor injuries, police said. The 31-year-old driver of the Mustang was treated at UMC and released, police said.

The crash is still under investigation, police said.
