Marijuana, cocaine discovered after house catches fire

Metro Police busted a suspected marijuana grow house early this morning after fire crews responded to a blaze at an east valley residence, authorities said.

Officers were called about 3:30 a.m. to a house in the 900 block of Looking Glass Lane, near East Bonanza Road and North Sloan Lane, police said.

While responding to the fire, Las Vegas and the Clark County firefighters found items that led them to believe the residence was being used as a grow house, officials said.

Narcotics detectives found 77 marijuana plants, 43 pounds of ready-for-sale marijuana, 22.7 grams of cocaine and 45 pounds of shake, police said. Shake refers to parts of the marijuana plant other than the bud.

Four guns also were recovered, police said.

Two men in the house at the time of the fire went to a hospital with minor injuries, police said.

No arrests have been made, but the District Attorney plans to present the case to a grand jury, police said.
