Henderson house fire does about $300,000 damage

A couple were sleeping Sunday night when they woke up to find their house on fire, according to the Henderson Fire Department.

They escaped without injury, but the blaze did an estimated $300,000 damage, officials said.

The fire was reported about 9 p.m. in the 100 block of Mauve Street, in the area of Horizon Ridge Parkway between Gibson Road and Horizon Drive.

Heavy flames were covering the roof when firefighters arrived, officials said. They were able to quickly contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring homes, officials said.

Two adults were displaced.

A firefighter injured his hand while fighting the fire but was treated and released at a local hospital, officials said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
