A Las Vegas woman was arrested after her dogs on Friday attacked an elderly neighbor who may lose an eye and an arm, Metro Police said.

Jesse Vonstaden was arrested on counts of having dangerous or vicious dogs and neglect of duty in willful or wanton disregard of a person’s safety, police said. She also had outstanding traffic warrants, police said.

Police received reports about 9:50 a.m. Friday that a woman had been attacked by four dogs in the 900 block of Looking Glass Lane in the east valley. A person with a baseball bat chased the dogs away, police said.

The woman was taken to University Medical Center, where she was in critical condition.

Officers found the dogs still running lose in the area and shot a pit bull that charged aggressively toward them, police said. The other dogs were captured.

A preliminary investigation indicated Vonstaden had two previous complaints regarding her dogs, police said. They did not detail the earlier complaints.
