YMCA evacuated after construction workers hit gas line

About 40 people were temporarily evacuated from the Durango Hills Community Center this morning after a construction crew hit a natural gas line behind the building, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials.

Nobody was injured in the incident, which was reported shortly after 9 a.m., officials said.

By 9:35 a.m., Southwest Gas workers had stopped the leak from the ruptured line and people were let back in the building, which is operated by the YMCA of Southern Nevada, officials said.

No gas got inside the building at 3521 N. Durago Drive.
