letter to the editor:

Republicans only causing problems

With Congress acting out like spoiled teenagers who manipulate to get a selfish agenda filled, the GOP inviting Israeli Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu to speak will most certainly unite would-be-terrorists to make that leap to action to join ISIL. Where is Dick Cheney, crying out, “Unpatriotic,” to those who disdain President Barack Obama?

From the moment President Obama was inaugurated, the GOP vowed to thwart him at every turn. Yet, he stopped the financial free-fall George W. Bush and Cheney spun us into after squandering the Bill Clinton gains, and Obama lifted us out of a recession like FDR.

Obama established a health care reform that was on the agenda for 100 years. And the only thing Congress can do is vote to repeal it over and over again, leaving no time to do the work for America they were elected to do.

Obama, with no help from the “right,” saved the banks, auto industry and housing market; and like Abraham Lincoln, who worked on slavery, Obama worked for immigration reform and marriage equality so all Americans can be treated equally. Yet, the GOP has inhibited voting rights. Talk about unpatriotic!

When history is written, Obama, a constitutional lawyer, will go down as the best president the United States ever had because he knows what the Constitution says and he abides by the letter of the law. Congressmen who vow to uphold it when they are sworn in should read it. Obviously, most of them don’t have a clue.

Bibi should not address Congress; it is a big mistake. If the GOP wants respect, they need to give it to President Obama.
