letter to the editor:

Government needs to take action

New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman described Islamic terrorists as angry youths who’ve never held a job (“You can’t dance around the topic of radical Islam,” Las Vegas Sun, Feb. 6). How does his description of them compare to that of our unemployed and underemployed youths who are committing daily shootings, road rage, and other growing and seemingly never-ending personal crimes?

People accept disappointment when they don’t recognize it’s been forced upon them by wrongful actions of others, hence it’s time for significant public discussion regarding the social collateral damage from poor government actions. Social stability should be the prime objective of government. Our government has undertaken no actions to decrease the personal crime in our nation while they’re dedicated to attending to the affairs of big business.
