Valley temperatures expected to warm up into next week

Locals who didn't get their wish for a snowy New Year's Day may want to cover their ears.

The snow report doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Temperatures are generally expected to increase over the weekend and into next week, National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Outler said.

The Las Vegas Valley should experience high temperatures in the upper 40s to about 50 degrees today with a low of about 30, meteorologist Caleb Steele said.

Over the weekend, the valley is expected to reach highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s.

Temperatures should warm up to a high of about 60 degrees and a low in the upper 30s Monday, Outler said.

Forecasters expect to see temperatures in the low to mid 60s next week with clear and sunny skies.

Lows should reach the 40s by Tuesday, Outler said.

No precipitation is forecasted for the valley going into next week, he said.

Meteorologists say a return of high pressure to the area is responsible for the warmer weather.
