Pedestrian seriously injured on Nellis Boulevard

A pedestrian was hospitalized Monday after being struck by a vehicle as she walked across Nellis Boulevard outside a marked crosswalk.

Metro Police responded about 7:20 p.m. to the collision on Nellis near Charleston Boulevard.

The woman, 55, walked into traffic and was struck by a 2002 Chevrolet Impala, police said in a news release.

She was taken to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center in critical condition; her status was later upgraded to stable, police said.

Traffic on Nellis was shut down from Charleston to Wyoming Avenue while police investigated, Lt. Mark Reddon said.

Reddon said that the driver remained on scene and that the pedestrian appeared to be at fault.
