Woman and child are injured in hit-and-run near downtown

A woman and child suffered minor injuries after being hit by a car that fled the scene this evening near downtown, Metro Police said.

Police received a report about 5:20 p.m. of the incident near Eastern Avenue and Bonanza Road, Lt. Yaz Yatomi said.

A woman in her 30s was transported to University Medical Center, and a child, believed to be about 7, was taken to UMC Pediatrics, Yatomi said.

Southbound Eastern Avenue is down to one lane near the scene of the accident, she said.

Police are searching for the suspect vehicle, which was described only as a white car, Yatomi said.
