letter to the editor:

Board needs common sense

In reference to the letter “School Board needs professionals” (Las Vegas Sun, Jan. 6):

I could not agree more but have something to add.

The School Board needs someone with basic common sense and financial skills. A prime example is the $400,000 (as of a few months ago — certainly a lot more by now) wasted on defending the school cops who gave liquor to students at a wild party, then tried to cover it up. Their actions resulted in the death of an innocent teenager, killed by one of the drunken students.

This money should have wound up in the classroom but is being spent in a frivolous way. How many other ways is money intended for classrooms being wasted at schools?

The Clark County School District does not need more money; it needs to use common sense with what it has.
