Man pleads not guilty in pharmacy robberies, slaying case

A former Las Vegas pharmacy employee pleaded not guilty Thursday to criminal charges in two armed robberies, including a murder count that could get him the death penalty if he's convicted of killing a clerk he once worked with.

A state court judge scheduled a status check Feb. 5 for Jin William Young Ackerman II.

The 25-year-old Ackerman remains jailed on kidnapping, armed robbery and burglary with a weapon charges in Dec. 24 and Dec. 26 robberies at separate Walgreens stores.

He faces a murder count in the slaying of 58-year-old Antonino Isnit during the second robbery.

Police quote Ackerman saying, "Sorry, Tony, but you know me," before shooting Isnit with a silencer-equipped handgun.

District Attorney Steve Wolfson says he and prosecutors will determine whether to seek the death penalty.
