Troopers investigating pedestrian death on I-15 near Tropicana

Updated Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 | 9:27 p.m.

A pedestrian was killed this evening on Interstate 15 just south of Tropicana Avenue when he was hit by a pickup and then hit again by a car.

The man was in a left lane of the interstate when he was struck, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said.

Troopers received a report about 7:15 p.m. of the accident, and the man was pronounced dead on scene.

There is no indication of why he was on the road, and his age and identity have not yet been released.

The occupants of the vehicles were not injured, Hixson said.

Two express lanes of I-15 are closed between Russell Road and Tropicana Avenue during the cleanup process, and drivers should expect delays, Hixson said.

The lanes are expected to be closed for hours.
