1 person killed in 2-vehicle crash in western Las Vegas Valley

One person died Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in the western Las Vegas Valley, according to Metro Police.

Also according to police:

The crash happened at 3:37 p.m. at West Lake Mead Boulevard and North Hillpointe Road, which borders Sun City Summerlin.

It appears a 2004 Toyota 4Runner was westbound on Lake Mead Boulevard and approaching Hillpointe Road when it crossed the center line and crashed into a 2012 Toyota Camry.

The 86-year-old driver of the Camry was transported to University Medical Center and died after surgery. The person’s gender was not disclosed. The 55-year-old woman driving the 4Runner also was taken to UMC with serious injuries.

The collision, which is the 52nd traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas this year, remains under investigation.
