Robbery suspect arrested after stealing, crashing cab in northwest valley

A suspect is in custody after he robbed a northwest valley business, fled in a cab, stole and crashed the cab, and barricaded himself inside a home this afternoon.

Calls came in at 2:37 p.m. about a robbery in the 8400 block of Farm Road, near Durango Drive, Metro Police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.

The suspect got into a cab and the driver fled the scene. Police followed the cab onto U.S. 95 until it exited at Alexander Road.

The cabdriver stopped and surrendered to police, but the suspect got into the driver's seat and fled.

The suspect soon crashed in a nearby neighborhood and fled on foot, Meltzer said.

He ran into a house near Alexander and Roxanne roads, near Torrey Pines Drive, and barricaded himself.

At 3:15 p.m., the man exited the house and surrendered.

No injuries were reported in the event, Meltzer said.

Metro Police are investigating the incident.
