Sentencing postponed in Strip sex trafficking case

Sentencing was postponed for a 25-year-old Nevada prison inmate facing three to 10 more years and sex offender registration after pleading guilty before trial to a Las Vegas Strip sex trafficking charge.

Clark County District Court Judge Eric Johnson on Tuesday rescheduled sentencing for Mario Lamont Jones II for July 28.

Defense attorney Martin Hart says his client wasn't transported to court from High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs, where he's serving time on assault with a weapon and shooting from a vehicle charges.

Jones pleaded guilty May 29 to luring a woman into prostitution on the Strip.

Kidnapping, living from the earnings of a prostitute and child abuse charges were dismissed.

Jones could have faced up to life in prison on the kidnapping and sex trafficking charges.
