Trial set for man jailed without conviction since 2008

A Nevada state court judge scheduled a retrial in less than three weeks for a Las Vegas man who has been jailed for nearly seven years on sex assault and other charges, but hasn't been convicted of a crime.

Prosecutor James Sweetin said Tuesday that Warren McClinton has had at least 10 lawyers since his arrest in August 2008 on allegations that he sexually assaulted the 14-year-old daughter of a friend.

McClinton is now 48. He told Clark County District Court Judge Eric Johnson he didn't want an Aug. 3 trial date, but the judge set it anyway.

Defense attorney Ozzie Fumo didn't immediately respond to messages.

McClinton was tried in June and acquitted of one charge.

He's still facing decades in prison on multiple sexual assault and lewdness charges.
