About 1,400 without power in southwest valley outage

About 1,400 NV Energy customers were without service because of an outage in the southwest valley this afternoon, according to the company's website.

An outage reported near Hualapai Way and Flamingo Road about 4:40 p.m. was affecting 1,397 customers as of about 5 p.m., according to the NV Energy Outage Center.

As of about 6:15 p.m., 37 customers remained without power, according to the website. Service was expected to be fully restored by 9:30 p.m.

The cause is under investigation, the company said.

Several smaller outages were reported, including one near Charleston and Lamb Boulevard that left 62 customers without service, according to the Outage Center.

That outage, reported about 11 a.m., was caused by equipment failure, according to the website.
