Sparks man sought for questioning might be in Las Vegas, police say

Northern Nevada authorities are looking for a 23-year-old man wanted for questioning in an attempted murder case who may have fled to Las Vegas or Northern California, according to Reno police.

Police are searching for Sparks resident Jonathan Hanes, who is wanted for felony eluding, parole violations, in a case of battery with a knife and two misdemeanor warrants, according to a media release from the Reno Police Department.

Police also want to question Hanes in connection with a Reno attempted murder case, though he is not officially a suspect, Officer Tim Broadway said.

Broadway declined to provide details on the case.

Hanes fled from Nevada Parole and Probation officers in March and has used a vehicle to avoid officers while putting the public at risk, according to the release.

He has brown hair and blue eyes, and he is described as 5-feet-9-inches tall and 150 pounds, the release said.
