letter to the editor:

Ruling doesn’t impede rights

I hear people on the right crying daily about how they have lost the freedom of religion and speech because of the ruling on gay marriage. Can anyone explain that to me? Did the ruling say you now have to change your religion or beliefs? Did it say you cannot be against gay marriages? Did it stifle your freedom of speech and say you can’t speak out against it?

The ruling only said gays have the right to get married. It in no way forces a church to marry gay couples. It allows couples to go to a justice of the peace, a government official, to get married. The justice of the peace or licensing office downtown cannot refuse them.

So stop whining about something that will not effect you.
