Man was shot and killed by owner of moped he allegedly stole, police say

A man who was killed Tuesday morning in a central valley apartment complex was shot by the owner of a moped he allegedly stole, according to Metro Police.

Police were called about 8 a.m. to the 2800 block of East Charleston Boulevard, near Mojave Road, where they found a man with gunshot wounds to the chest, police said.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released by the Clark County Coroner's Office, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

An adult male approached officers at the scene and told investigators he was in his apartment when he noticed his moped missing, police said.

He walked through the apartment complex with a handgun and told police he found the man with his moped, police said.

After an altercation, the owner of the moped shot the man, police said.

The Clark County District Attorney’s Office will review the case.

This is the 60th homicide investigated by Metro this year.
