Metro Police officers notice open door, discover man’s body

A man’s body was found with an apparent gunshot wound in a northwest valley home this morning after officers in the neighborhood noticed an open door, according to Metro Police.

Officers were investigating another crime about 5:10 a.m. in the 3000 block of Panama Beach Drive, near North Rampart Boulevard and West Cheyenne Avenue, when they noticed the front door to the home was open and had been kicked in, police said.

The officers investigated and found the body of the man, who was apparently shot, police said. Homicide detectives are investigating.

No suspects have been arrested, and the motive has not yet been determined, police said.

The name and cause of death of the man will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office pending notification of his next of kin.

This is the 61st homicide investigated by Metro this year, police said.
