An abandoned piece of luggage led to a suspicious package investigation this evening that halted traffic in part of downtown, Metro Police said.
Police were called about 5:15 p.m. to an area near Bonanza Road and Veterans Memorial Drive, Lt. Dave Valenta said.
Metro's armor unit and Las Vegas Fire & Rescue responded to the scene, he said.
It was later determined the item was nonhazardous, Valenta said.
The area was reopened to traffic about 7:30 p.m., he said.
