letter to the editor:

Is everything all about the money?

Floyd Mayweather Jr. stated in the Review-Journal on May 8 that there was nothing wrong with the condition of Manny Pacquiao. Did Mayweather ever take a health class and learn the importance of a rotator cuff? Maybe Pacquiao’s parting gift to Mayweather should be a book about the human body. Did the boxing commission not read the list of medications Pacquiao was taking, or did it get clouded with greed because of the forthcoming money bonanza?

Mayweather demanded more than five times in the news conference that the press print how great he was. Does he know the meaning of class and sportsmanship? I thought he once did.

The City Council is allowing liquor in movie theaters? We all learned since elementary school how liquor affects judgment. And we want to allow our children and teenagers into the theaters? Can they be called safe havens now? Once again money triumphs over doing the right thing.

The Postal Service recently observed Stamp out Hunger day to collect food items. In a 10-block radius, I saw only five bags filled. Yet, folks have $150 for all-day concerts. Where is the justice in that? Why can’t the mayor encourage venues to be affordable for folks in a middle or fixed-income bracket? Though I have been saving for a car the past two years and am on a tight budget, I still cleared out my pantry because I hate the thought of anyone going hungry.

Somebody please explain all this to me.
