Police dispatched to U.S. 95 near Creech Air Force Base after a report of a suspicious item near the base have cleared the area, officials said.

A vehicle was stopped during a routine inspection at the base's main gate, and security forces checked the vehicle but didn't find anything suspicious, spokesman Master Sgt. Sanjay Allen said.

Metro Police were called to the scene about 11 a.m. while the investigation was underway, Officer Larry Hadfield said.

The Highway Patrol was also called to monitor the highway in case officials determined it needed to be closed, Trooper Loy Hixson said.

Law enforcement cleared the scene by 2 p.m., according to a tweet from the Highway Patrol.
