Average bill would go up $1.86 under proposed NV Energy rate hike

CARSON CITY — The state Public Utilities Commission has set June 9 for a public hearing in Las Vegas on the application of NV Energy to raise its rates.

The utility says it wants to recover what it has paid to purchase electricity.

NV Energy proposes an overall rate increase of 1.64 percent. The PUC says the average residential bill would increase $1.86, or 1.2 percent.

Consumers will have a chance to comment on the proposal at the commission’s offices, 9075 West Diablo Drive, Suite 250. The hearing starts at 6 p.m.
