Pedestrian hit by car, killed in southern valley

A pedestrian died today after she was hit by a car in the 2400 block of Wigwam Avenue, near Las Vegas Boulevard South, Metro Police said.

The woman, 65, who was hit about noon, was taken to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

She was about 400 feet east of the nearest crosswalk when she was struck by a 2012 Honda Civic.

The male driver, 29, stayed on scene and immediately called police.

The driver passed a field sobriety test.

The collision remains under investigation.
