Woman killed in accident on I-15 after tire fails

An 18-year-old woman from Cedar City died Saturday after a tire on the truck she was driving on Interstate 15 failed, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

Ciara Jackson was headed south in a white 1999 Ford Ranger on I-15 south of mile marker 120 when the truck's right rear tire failed, Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The left side of the truck traveled off the east edge of the road, and Jackson overcorrected to the right, according to the Highway Patrol.

The truck spun before traveling off the edge of the road and rolling onto its right side in a desert area, Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Jackson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead on scene, according to the Highway Patrol.

A 19-year-old man from Cedar City who was a passenger was transported to Mesa View Hospital with minor injuries, the Highway Patrol said.
