Police: 50 pot plants discovered in Rhodes Ranch grow house bust

Pot bust

Police say they discovered about 50 marijuana plants during a grow house bust Thursday evening in the Rhodes Ranch community, located in the southwest valley.

Officers served a search warrant about 6 p.m. at a home on Duck Hollow Avenue, near Warm Springs and Fort Apache roads, Metro Lt. Laz Chavez said.

An upstairs bedroom was converted into a marijuana grow, and police found evidence the drugs were being sold, he said.

Law enforcement received a tip a few weeks ago of suspicious activity and a heavy odor of marijuana at the residence, he said.

A man who resides at the rental home was arrested, and the suspect is not a medical marijuana patient, Chavez said.

A child who was in the home at the time of the bust has been placed in the custody of a family member, he said.
